Training, Links and Resources
Trained leaders provide a quality, fun-filled program for boys and young men and women. When leaders understand the whys and hows of Scouting, they are more effective in their roles, and the youth win!
It doesn't matter if you just joined Scouting or have 20 years under your belt as a Scoutmaster -- you can learn something new. Scouting trains all of its adult leaders and its youth leaders.
-
IOLS (Introduction to Outdoor Leadership) – This fun adult training is a basic run-through of what scouts will learn (working in patrols) up through First Class (fire building, knots and lashing, first aid, and more). This opportunity is great for any adult and can shed light on what it means for young scouts to learn and grow in their scouting careers.
-
Youth Protection Training (YPT) - It is required for EVERY adult who participates in Troop 925 and registering for BSA membership. This training is offered online at https://my.scouting.scouting.org and only takes about 20 minutes to take. Please take this mandatory training if you have not already done so.
-
Wood Badge training - It is an excellent training opportunity that will benefit you and the troop. You will have a load of fun and learn some excellent skills too. For more information about the Wood Badge training opportunities in the Sam Houston Area Council area visit:http://www.samhoustonbsa.org/training/council_training_events/wood_badge You will not regret this course!!!
